What’s Your Theme Song?
Back when I was at the dorms, people were aware of the music I played in my room, and at times, how loud it would get. No matter how popular, unheard of, or just plain shitty the song was, people always had something to say about the music that I played, and believe it or not, I took pride in that. It made me glad that people took notice to what I listened too and had something to say about it, and even if it was to say that it sucked (which surprisingly was not the case, especially considering that the people around me, well in my case, are picky of what they listen too.) Regardless of how diverse my musical taste is/was (and I pretty much listen to everything), I was glad to introduce people to “my” music.
With that said, I turn my attention to theme songs. Yes, when you watch shows and listen to the theme song, it just happens to describe either the feel of the show, or the main character(s). This even applies to movies and movie trailers; the one song that describes the movie. Why I bring this up is because back when I was at the dorms, my friend Matt, aka Optimus Servite (Yes I dubbed him the nickname and it is copyrighted). Whenever he would walk into the room, the track “Arrival to Earth” from The Transformers Original Movie Score would always come up. And talk about surprising, I always left my music library on shuffle. Even the times I would leave it on repeat, Matt would always walk into my room, and I would be playing this track. What’s ironic about it is that I felt this track described Matt perfectly. While I won’t get into too much detail, of if anything, any, about Matt, I can 100% say that this is his theme song. Based on how epic it is, this is a track that I was just able to associate with him no problem, and it fits (my friends can vouch for this). That’s how I came up with this thing of coming up with Theme Songs for my friends. But, don’t think I make it my job to. It is just something that naturally comes up, and I have to have a feel to it. Believe it or not, amongst my friends, I don’t think anyone can do it except me, seeing as how I have only found a Theme Song for two of my friends. What makes having a theme song so special is that you associate yourself with it and it becomes a part of you, following you wherever you go. For the past couple of days, I have tried to find my own theme song, something that describes me and who I am. But I have found no luck. I think I just need to stop and maybe, just maybe, it will come to me. From experience, it is from that I realize that you can’t force things to happen all the time, they just come naturally.
